SANAA, 28 Dec – An official at the Ministry of Oil and Minerals Monday announced plans to contract international companies to calculate Yemen’s oil and gas reserves, the ruling party weekly, al-Mithaq reported.  The official who was not identified said the ministry is working to change the terms of the production sharing agreements signed with oil companies operating in the country “so that gas associated with oil production could be exploited,” adding “the government is seeking to find out Yemen’ reserves of liquefied natural gas and study needs for the establishment of a petrochemical industry by the end of 2012.”  “Yemen signed seven production sharing agreements this year,” he said, adding “Yemen will be receiving offers from international companies that are interested in petrochemical industry.”
